Salem One Proud to Support Major Universities Part 1: NC State, Direct Marketing and Consumer Textile Packaging

NCState HeaderOur sales and marketing departments were invited to present information to NC State students enrolled in classes in the Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management (TATM) department. Our team members conducted two courses; one focusing on market targeting and segmentation and the other on retail product packaging.

Delisia Matthews, Ph.D, who is an Assistant Professor in the College of Textiles in the TATM department provided us the opportunity to share some of our Industry expertise with students in two of her classes. Dr. Matthews had previously visited Salem One’s facilities and embraced our industry leading expertise in direct marketing and consumer textile packaging. Salem One is unusual in combining direct marketing strategy with product packaging which caught NC State’s attention. Dr. Matthews recognized the synergy between the value we provide our clients and the principles she is teaching in the classroom.

Salem One’s VP of Sales, Tracy Brooks conducted this course focusing on marketing segmentation which included “real world” examples, physical samples, case studies and ROI metrics. A second class was led by two of Salem One’s Retail Packaging Subject Matter Experts, Jay Deweese and Angela Williams. Presentation materials included a strong concentration on maintaining brand consistency for end clients as well as details about the production of consumer packaging. They also explained the dynamics of key brand influencers and stakeholders in package design.

“The students in both classes were amazing. We were so impressed by their knowledge and complete engagement during our presentations. This is the type of day that we look back on and say, this is what it’s all about; giving back to students who will one day be the future of our Industry!”—Tracy Brooks, Vice President of Sales/Salem One.

We would like to extend a huge “Thank You” to Dr. Matthews for allowing us this time with her students and the hospitality that was extended to us throughout the day at NC State. We’re not sure who got more out of the experience, us or the students? But we do know it was, Simply the Best!
